Today would have been John Coltrane's birthday (also known as Trane ) he would have been 88 years old he was born September 23rd 1926 sadly he passed away far to early in 1967 aged just 41 years oldKenny Wheeler September 21 2014
How sad that finally the reports of Kenny Wheeler's passing has been confirmed, Kenny sadly passed away on Friday 19th September aged 84 years old .Although Kenny was born in Canada he moved to the UK in 1952 and became one of the greats of the British Jazz scene , Kenny played with many of British great's including Tubby Hayes Johnny Dankworth and Ronnie Scott. It is safe to say that Kenny made such a massive contribution to contemporary Jazz with his unique sound, but with the legacy he has left behind with his recordings and compositions these will inspire future generations to come.

It was on this day in 1973 that Ben Webster passed away. Ben Webster was one of the big 3 tenor's along with Coleman Hawkins and Lester Young. Hi my name is Simon, nephew of the "world famous" Jazz photographer Freddy Warren.
My fascination for my uncles photography goes back more years than I care to remember, I spent many hours as a child with Freddy in his Euston dark room watching Freddy bring his pictures to life.
I was honoured to have been left 1000's (some of which have never to be seen) negatives after his tragic death in 2010, I spend my days scanning, cleaning & preserving his life's work.
